Two common types of packaging are shipping containers and retail containers.
The first type, shipping containers, are very durable and proves a great advantage in terms of bulk transportation. However, shipping containers are bland and do not provide marketing opportunities. On the other hand, retail containers protect and advertise food. It is also convenient for home storage.

Food Packaging: What is it for?
Food packaging has many purposes for all of us. It protects our food from contamination, lengthens shelf life whilst maintaining freshness and it is also for our convenience so we don’t have to wrap them up before storage.

It also supports marketers because it gives them a chance to advertise their product however it also is a percentage of the final price of the product for the consumer.

The main disadvantage of food packaging is the amount of waste we emit to the environment. World wide, more and more companies are pushing us to a greener planet by encouraging the use of recycled packaging.
